You are invited to the 18th annual GPCR Retreat that will be held jointly with Great Lakes GPCR Retreat and Club des Récepteurs à Sept Domaines Transmembranaires du Québec. This year’s meeting will take place on the 19th–21th of October, 2017, at the Westin Ottawa coinciding with the 150th celebration of Canadian Confederation in Ottawa.
The meeting is the oldest of its kind focused on the pharmacology, biochemistry, structural biology and developmental biology of G protein-coupled receptors, and this year’s retreat is expected to attract 200-225 researchers and trainees.
The meeting will be launched on Thursday with a Trainee Symposium providing an outstanding opportunity for our trainees to present their research to world leaders followed by the Hyman Niznik lecture by Michel Bouvier.
On Friday we will host the ISN symposium on GPCR Neurochemistry, the GPCR Biosensors, the GPCR Signaling in the cardiovascular system and the GPCR & Pain symposiums.
Saturday will house the GPCR Structure & Function Symposium followed by the Hubert Van Tol Symposium on Animal Models/Physiology and finally the John F Macdonald Lecture presented by Brian Kobilka (2012 Nobel Laureate).
The weekend of science is an intense and interactive experience, and an excellent training environment for students and post-doctoral fellows.
On behalf of the organizers, we welcome you to Ottawa for this outstanding meeting!
Registration and submission of abstracts will begin in March 2017.
The early registrants will take advantage of discounted registration fees and will have the best choice of accommodations. We look forward to welcoming you in Ottawa in October 2017.
Sincerely, the local organizing committee:

Mario Tiberi, Ph.D., University of Ottawa
This unique International meeting is comprised of invited speakers that are experts in the field of G protein-coupled receptor signaling from across North America, Europe, and Asia. This meeting is run as a joint meeting with The Great Lakes GPCR Retreat founded by Dr. Stephen Ferguson and the Club des Récepteurs à Sept Domaines Transmembranaires du Québec founded by Dr. Richard Leduc. The meeting attracts interest from more than 200 participants, 1/3 faculty, 2/3 students and postdoctoral fellows in academic and industrial laboratories from across Canada, the United States, and now Europe and Asia. This meeting has received phenomenal support from the best researchers in the GPCR field and outstanding support from the pharmaceutical industry. The GPCR Retreat not only serves as a forum for the dissemination of scientific information but also provides an outstanding venue to showcase the excellence of Canadian science beyond our borders.
